On 19-20 December 2013 APEMH Luxembourg organised a sensing event. Its objective was to reflect on how to transform our organisation and services in a person-centred way.
The following questions accompanied us during our workshop around the Theory U by Otto Scharmer:
“What changes we have to make to be able to support users of APEHMH accommodation services in a person centred way?”
“What do leaders need to change in their work to facilitate support for the users?”
“What changes do we need to make in order to support the staff members in getting used to person-centred thinking and practice?”
During these two days, different participants from APEMH - directors, psychologists, pedagogues and other staff members of APEMH – Accommodation Services tried ‘to stay still’ - to sense what the ‘new challenges’ are, and how a new path could look like.
In addition, the perspective of users and their families were included through qualitative interviews in which important information about their perspectives, opinions, wishes, and dreams were gathered.
In various exchange groups and so-called ’dialogue – walks’, we created a ’thinking space’ in which we reflected on our own barriers, fears and concerns regarding the new challenges of person centred support in our organisation. In addition, we tried to sense future visions on how to support APEMH in embracing and implementing person centred and individualised support within our organizational culture, structure and practice.
